Turkish referee and former player Elif Karaarslan, 24, has been banned from football activities for 90 days after allegedly starring in an intimate video with referee inspector Orhan Erdemir, 61.

Erdemir, a former FIFA official, received a similar punishment from the Turkish Football Federation (TFF). Elif, born in Istanbul, has over 390,000 followers on social media, where she denied being one of the people in the leaked images.

“I have a long legal road ahead of me, but I will overcome it in the strongest and most robust way,” she said, revealing her intention to appeal the decision. “I hope for your full support and love in this process.”

“Crying, screaming, and being sad are not things I would do. That’s not who I am. I will stand firm in my cause until the end. I’m just one among many who are being harmed—I hope to be the last.”

Elif played for the Turkish club Besiktas before becoming a referee. Meanwhile, Erdemir claimed that the video had circulated without his permission but admitted that his career is over.

“My honor within my family, social circle, and the refereeing community has been destroyed. Besides my financial losses, the emotional damage I have suffered is indescribable,” he lamented.
